Basketball Recap: Ethan Overdorf's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Healdsburg over St. Vincent De Paul

Healdsburg lost against St. Vincent de Paul back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Healdsburg Greyhounds fell 63-54 to the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs. The Greyhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Healdsburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Overdorf, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Overdorf is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Conrad, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Healdsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

St. Vincent de Paul was led to victory by Jack Ellis and Dylan Chelew. Ellis dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Chelew went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points. Ellis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anton Rocco, who posted four points and seven rebounds.

Healdsburg's record now sits at 7-10. As for St. Vincent de Paul, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Healdsburg will head out to square off against Rancho Cotate at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Cotate knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Healdsburg likes a good challenge. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they will venture away from home to take on Sonoma Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Vincent de Paul is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
