Volleyball Recap: Eau Claire Memorial Old Abes vs. Stevens Point Panthers
Eau Claire Memorial lost against Stevens Point back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Old Abes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Old Abes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaylee Gunderson paced Eau Claire Memorial's offense, picking up eight kills. Gunderson got some help from Ella Staupe and her eight assists.
Stevens Point can attribute much of their success to Katie Kornowski, who had 19 assists and six digs. Kornowski is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 50 games she's played dating back to last season.
Eau Claire Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Stevens Point, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.
Eau Claire Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against D.C. Everest on the 6th. As for Stevens Point, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Menomonie on the 6th.
