Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Comes Up Short

If Gordon-Rushville was riding high fresh off their 59-39 takedown of Bayard last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs fell 70-62 to the Hemingford Bobcats on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Gordon-Rushville lost, don't look at Case Scheenen. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 15 to rack up 24 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Scheenen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kannon Leeper, who posted ten points along with five assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Gordon-Rushville was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Gordon-Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Hemingford, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
