Baseball Game Preview: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Falcons vs. Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Somerset Berkley Regional Raiders at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Dighton-Rehoboth Regional 3.4, Somerset Berkley Regional 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional's offense. They fell just short of Fairhaven by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Somerset Berkley Regional waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Raiders have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kyle Sherman Jr. was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Hayden Teasdale was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Somerset Berkley Regional pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional, they moved to 10-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional came out on top in a nail-biter against Somerset Berkley Regional in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
