Softball Game Preview: Minisink Valley Warriors vs. Port Jervis Raiders

Minisink Valley has won seven straight games at home, while Port Jervis has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Warriors will host the Raiders at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Wednesday, Minisink Valley made easy work of Cornwall Central and carried off a 14-3 victory. The Warriors have beaten the Dragons the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Dragons has come to flipping the script.

Emily Smith spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Minisink Valley let Keira Filip and Ryin Perico run wild. Filip got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Perico got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Filip has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Port Jervis got the win against Our Lady of Lourdes on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-1.

Port Jervis' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Minisink Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

Minisink Valley skirted past Port Jervis 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
