Drew Gartman's Big Game Leads Valley View over Harding Academy
Starting off the list is Valley View's Drew Gartman, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Gartman rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes. Cole Bentz produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Batesville to the win on Friday. Bentz threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.
The victory snapped Batesville's winning streak at seven games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record. Bentz and Batesville will challenge Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
