Softball Recap: Manawa's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

The home team had come away the winner the last six times Manawa and Shiocton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wolves fell just short of the Chiefs by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. Wolves fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Chiefs since on Thursday.

Kelsey Behnke was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Behnke was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ellie Stroesenreuther was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lily Krenke was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs.

Manawa's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4. As for Shiocton, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.

As of now, neither Manawa nor the Chiefs have any future games scheduled.
