Baseball Recap: Grand Valley Has No Trouble Against Non Varsity Opponent

14 must be Grand Valley's lucky number: they beat Non Varsity Opponent with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Non Varsity Opponent. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-3 victory on Thursday.

Zalas Richards made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Grand Valley is undefeated when Richards posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Andrew Palcer and Tyler Palcer did most of the damage at the plate: Andrew went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Tyler went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Tyden Richardson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Grand Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
