Recap: Joplin Eagles vs. Neosho Wildcats

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nixa, the Joplin Eagles were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They blew past Neosho, posting a 59-28 victory at home. That 31 point margin sets a new team best for Joplin this season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colton Southern, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanten Smith, who scored five points along with two steals.

Joplin's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-18. As for Neosho, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Joplin will take on Willard at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Willard presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Joplin in Missouri (Willard is ranked 60th, while Joplin is ranked 314th). As for Neosho, they will head out on the road to challenge McDonald County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Neosho focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
