Recap: Laughlin Cougars vs. Beaver Dam Diamondback
This season hasn't been kind to The Laughlin Cougars, who are still winless after their seventh match. Their tough 42-20 defeat to Beaver Dam on Friday might stick with them for a while. Laughlin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Beaver Dam apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2018.
When it comes to explaining why Laughlin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adrian Drake. Despite the final result, he picked up 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Laughlin's defeat was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 The Meadows School and 10-2 Lincoln County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.5% over those games). As for Beaver Dam, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
Laughlin will be playing at home against Word of Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Word of Life Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Beaver Dam, they will head out on the road to face off against Sandy Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
