Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders vs. Fuquay - Varina Bengals

The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders will square off against the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cardinal Gibbons' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Leesville Road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Jakub Mudd was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Graham Virag, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Cardinal Gibbons was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.

The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Cardinal Gibbons' win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Fuquay - Varina, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Cardinal Gibbons might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Fuquay - Varina when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Cardinal Gibbons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
