Softball Recap: Rye Cove Eagles vs. Eastside Spartans

After a string of 18 wins, Rye Cove's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs they have scored all season.

Eden Muncy put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Muncy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive pitching appearances. Muncy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two stolen bases.

On Eastside's side, the team relied heavily on Emmaleigh Banks, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rye Cove fell to 18-1. As for Eastside, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1.
