Basketball Game Preview: Red Oak Hawks vs. Crandall Pirates

Red Oak has won 15 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Crandall has won 15 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Red Oak Hawks will welcome the Crandall Pirates at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Red Oak took their contest with ease, bagging a 76-31 win over Corsicana. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Crandall posted their closest victory since February 19, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged Midlothian out 59-57. The win was all the more spectacular given the Pirates' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Panthers are ranked 130th).

Crandall's win came from a few key players Red Oak will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tj Taylor, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Franklin, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Crandall has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-15 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Red Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 21-8.
