Verona dropped their record down to 15-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Nutley Maroon Raiders by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroon Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

As for Nutley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For Nutley's part, Kennan Bilotta looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bilotta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eugenio Roman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last five contests. Nichoals Palumbo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Verona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nutley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Montclair at 4:00 p.m.
