Seymour had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Hand Tigers with a sharp 10-2 win on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Leah Parkosewich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Mia Cunningham and Maggie Sudimick did most of the damage at the plate: Cunningham went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sudimick went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI Cunningham has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Raucci, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hand only managed five hits.
Seymour's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hand, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Coming up, Seymour will head out on the road to face off against Foran at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 25th straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. Hand does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
