Softball Recap: Ponder Takes a Loss

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Ponder's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boyd Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Vada Cochrum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits.

Ponder's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Boyd, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-4-2.

Coming up, Ponder will head out to challenge Callisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Boyd, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Paradise at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Yellowjackets 2.8, the Panthers 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
