Recap: West Florida Jaguars vs. Escambia Gators

When it comes to explaining why West Florida lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dominick Nicholson. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was John Anderson, who scored two points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
Escambia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Jackson, who scored 17 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tae Gaston, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
West Florida has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Escambia, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florida will take on Pace at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Escambia, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pine Forest at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Maurice Smith and Tayshaun Gilcrist.
