Softball Recap: Smithtown West's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Smithtown West owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Deer Park Falcons 2-0. The win was familiar territory for Smithtown West, who have now won four games in a row.

The result came thanks to Erin McDaid's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Russo, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Gabrielle Guttieri also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Smithtown West's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Deer Park, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

As of now, neither Smithtown West nor Deer Park have any future games scheduled.
