Softball Recap: Shea Has No Trouble Against Times Squared Academy

Shea won the last time they faced Times Squared Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders blew past the Eagles 13-1. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.

Taylor Kane was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laurel Christian, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Clara Perez was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Shea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Shea and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Times Squared Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Shea is set to challenge their familiar foe Mt. Pleasant at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Times Squared Academy will take on rival Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
