Softball Recap: Bishop Loughlin Drops Season-High Score on Christ the King

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Loughlin). They put the hurt on the Christ the King Royals with a sharp 26-4 victory on Thursday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Isabella Duverge, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Sade Whittingham was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Bishop Loughlin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Bishop Loughlin pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Christ the King, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Christ the King will face off against St. Saviour at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Loughlin will be paying especially close attention to the Royals' contest: after the Royals face off against Holy Cross, they'll take on Bishop Loughlin again at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
