Basketball Game Preview: Denbigh Patriots vs. Churchland Truckers

The Denbigh Patriots will head out to face off against the Churchland Truckers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, Denbigh was beaten by Landstown 63-35. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Eagles are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Churchland suffered their closest defeat since February 2nd on Saturday. They fell just short of King's Fork by a score of 79-77. The loss continues a trend for the Truckers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Denbigh has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Churchland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.

Denbigh didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Churchland in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denbigh since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
