Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Wharton's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Bay City came into Friday's game looking for another win against Wharton, but Jacoryan Dickerson wouldn't allow it. The Wharton Tigers managed a 59-55 victory over the Bay City Blackcats on Friday thanks in part to Dickerson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Kevin Dogins was another key player, putting up three points in addition to four steals and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high.

Several Blackcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alex Estrada, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Estrada is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Javius Andrews, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Wharton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Bay City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Wharton will be playing at home against Brazosport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wharton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Bay City, they will head out on the road to challenge Needville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bay City is facing Needville at the right time seeing as Needville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
