Baseball Recap: El Segundo Victorious

El Segundo posted their closest victory since March 29th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Peninsula Panthers 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Panthers back in March, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

El Segundo got a great performance from Caleb Kimm as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lincoln Quaintance, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

The victory made it two in a row for El Segundo and bumps their season record up to 18-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Peninsula, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Peninsula wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Rolling Hills Prep on the 1st. Hopefully El Segundo paid attention to the Panthers' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
