Softball Game Preview: Williamston Hornets vs. Marshall Redhawks

The Williamston Hornets will square off against the Marshall Redhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Williamston has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Williamston narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mason 5-4. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Olivia Yadav spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reese Langdon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sidney Fortin, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Chelsea hit Marshall with a five-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Redhawks came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-2. The matchup marked the Redhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Marshall saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Carden, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Carden's first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Marshall and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Williamston, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
