Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Latin Hawks vs. Benedictine Cadets

Having just played yesterday, the Charlotte Latin Hawks will jump right back in to play the Benedictine Cadets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Charlotte Latin came up into this matchup off a tough 22-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bishop Kenny by a score of 45-43 on Friday. The game marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Benedictine's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Archbishop Ryan. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cadets came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in Georgia, while the Raiders and Ragdolls are ranked 164th in Pennsylvania).

Charlotte Latin will have to contain Caleb Jones as he made an impact in Benedictine's last game. He dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 34 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was John Lilly, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Benedictine fell to 8-1. As for Charlotte Latin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
