Softball Recap: William Blount Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for William Blount, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Heritage Mountaineers on Wednesday, sneaking past 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 back in March.

Katee Owens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Owens was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Owens wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abi McCauley, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

With the victory, William Blount broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-8. As for Heritage, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. William Blount will take on Karns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Governors are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Heritage, they will face off against Sequoyah at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
