Permian has gone 8-2 against Odessa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Permian Panthers will head out to square off against the Odessa Bronchos at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Permian came up short against Hobbs and fell 54-46. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 160th in Texas, while the Eagles are ranked second in New Mexico).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Odessa). They blew past Lake View 68-46 on Tuesday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bronchos just coasted through the last quarter.

Odessa's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-12. As for Permian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Permian against Odessa in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 95-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Permian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
