Football Recap: Hersey Piles Up the Points Against Niles West

In Friday's Canine Competition, Hersey came out on top. They blew past the Niles West Wolves, posting a 56-0 victory. The Huskies' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Leading Hersey to victory were Jake Nawrot and Brandon Jenkins. Nawrot threw for 245 yards and six touchdowns on only 17 passes, while Jenkins gained 186 total yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Nawrot is now averaging an impressive 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. Tyler Wentink was another key player, picking up 84 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The win made it two in a row for Hersey and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Niles West, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Hersey and Niles West will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Huskies are set to face off against their familiar foe Wheeling at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Niles West will square off against rival Maine East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
