Basketball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. Northgate Broncos

The Miramonte Matadors will head out to face off against the Northgate Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Miramonte knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Northgate likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Miramonte was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 75-69 to Ygnacio Valley. The Matadors have struggled against the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Northgate came up short against Campolindo on Friday and fell 54-42.

Miramonte will need to focus on slowing down Vadim Golovin, one of several Northgate players who made an impact when they last played. He shot 55% from the field to rack up 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rufus Lee, who posted nine points and four steals.

Northgate's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Miramonte, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Miramonte suffered a grim 87-62 defeat to Northgate in their previous meeting back in January of 2025. Can the Matadors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
