Basketball Recap: Callaway Chargers vs. Neshoba Central Rockets

After a string of four wins, the Callaway Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 59-38 defeat at the hands of Neshoba Central. While losing is never fun, Callaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Rockets are ranked first).

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Megann Wallace, who scored eight points along with two steals. Wallace is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Satiya Johnson, who scored six points along with six rebounds.

Neshoba Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyli Truss, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Truss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played. Zharia Leflore was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Callaway's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7. As for Neshoba Central, they pushed their record up to 25-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road.

Callaway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Neshoba Central will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
