Baseball Recap: Port Gibson Comes Up Short

Port Gibson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin County Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 last Tuesday.

Terrance Evans made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole five bases while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Port Gibson's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Jomarion Washington was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Port Gibson now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Franklin County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Port Gibson has already played their next contest, a 9-5 loss against O'Bannon on the 22nd. As for Franklin County, they will take on Tylertown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin County is facing Tylertown at the right time seeing as Tylertown is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
