Softball Game Preview: Old Fort Stockaders vs. Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains

Old Fort hasn't had much luck against Hopewell-Loudon recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Stockaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chieftains at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Old Fort took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Danbury, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Stockaders skirted past the Lakers 11-9. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Stockaders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Abbi Ward, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Marah Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Hopewell-Loudon made easy work of Lakota on Wednesday and carried off a 17-10 victory. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

AnneMarie Berg was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Snyder, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Hopewell-Loudon's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Old Fort, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 2-13.
