Baseball Recap: East Providence Victorious

East Providence had won three straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 9-3 to make it four. They skirted past the Cranston West Falcons 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Townies have posted since April 4th.

Dylan Annicelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aidan Martins, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Palombo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Cranston West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 25, 2024.

On Cranston West's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Logan Taylor gave up four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Elan Santana was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. East Providence is set to take on their familiar foe La Salle Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Townies 2.8, the Rams 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cranston West will challenge rival Cumberland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
