Hammond had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their defense stepped up to hand the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers a 17-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Skyhawks sure are getting used to it with their 14th in a row dating back to last season.

Hammond can attribute much of their success to Levi Myers, who rushed for 114 yards on only 11 carries.

Myers was just one part of a punishing run game: Hammond was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 259 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Hammond will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Pinewood Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Christ Church Episcopal, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Anderson C at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
