Basketball Recap: Berry Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Berry can now relate to. They took a 49-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hubbertville Lions on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Berry still got an impressive performance from Maggie Mauldin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Mauldin is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Kryssa Fields was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Hubbertville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Tucker, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 steals. Those 19 points gave Tucker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Kate Curington, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Berry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Hubbertville, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Berry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hubbertville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-38 victory against Lynn on the 4th.
