Softball Recap: Hilbert Drops Highest Score of Season Against Three Lakes/Phelps

Hilbert scored the most runs they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 21-16 to Three Lakes/Phelps. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Kaylie Hernke made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Alissa Fochs, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hilbert has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Three Lakes/Phelps, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3.

Looking ahead, Hilbert will head out to square off against Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Resorters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.71 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Three Lakes/Phelps, they will be playing at home against Crandon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
