Basketball Game Preview: Faustina Academy Falcons vs. Faith Lutheran Lions

The Faustina Academy Falcons will take on the Faith Lutheran Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Faith Lutheran took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Faustina Academy, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Faustina Academy earned a 34-27 win over Azle Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 41-27 bruising from Lakewood Presbyterian. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 12-8 in the first quarter.

Faustina Academy will have to keep a close watch on Tara Leicht and Evangeline Hoff, a pair of players who had a big impact on Faith Lutheran's prior game. Leicht posted 12 points, while Hoff earned ten points. That was a full 44.4% of Faith Lutheran's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Sara Ponnaboyena also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Faustina Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Faith Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
