Basketball Recap: Keswick Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Grant Cook and Zach Bingham

Keswick Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 72-59 to the Boca Ciega Pirates on Friday.

Zach Bingham and Grant Cook certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Bingham went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and five steals, while Cook went 6 of 9 on his way to 18 points. Cook is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Richardson, who posted eight points.

Boca Ciega's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myreon Phillip led the charge by going 6 of 8 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jelani Nix Jr, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and eight boards.

Keswick Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Boca Ciega, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Keswick Christian and Trinity Christian Academy will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Keswick Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season. As for Boca Ciega, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clearwater Central Catholic at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Boca Ciega also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.6 points per game.
