The Port Neches-Groves Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Nederland Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Port Neches-Groves got the win against Lee by a conclusive 12-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Mckayla Hranicky was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
In other pitching news, Kalli Smith looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Kiana Ledoux was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Jardin Cunningham was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Port Neches-Groves always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee only posted an OBP of .355.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nederland). Everything went their way against Beaumont United on Tuesday as Nederland made off with a 19-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won six in a row.
Grace Seigrist and Kaylee Baker made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Seigrist pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Baker pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Seigrist scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Baker got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave Seigrist a new career-high.
In other batting news, Nederland got a big performance out of Hope Foster, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Foster a new career-high in RBI (two). Reese Robbins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Port Neches-Groves' record is now 21-3. As for Nederland, their record is now 14-4.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Port Neches-Groves hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .409. However, it's not like Nederland struggles in that department as they've averaged .401. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Port Neches-Groves took their win against Nederland in their previous meeting on March 4th by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Neches-Groves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
