Basketball Recap: Los Alamos Comes Up Short

Los Alamos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Lovington Wildcats, falling 83-58. Even if the Hilltoppers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Kayle Covington was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 18 rebounds for Lovington. The match was Covington's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jojo Perez, who posted eight points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

Los Alamos' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Lovington, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Los Alamos has already played their next game, a 43-34 loss against Mayfield on the 27th. As for Lovington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-48 defeat against Roswell on the 27th.
