After a string of three wins, Tucson High Magnet School's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marana Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Tuesday.

Tucson High Magnet School started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20.

Payton Koch paced Tucson High Magnet School's offense, picking up nine kills. Koch got some help from Brielle Valencia and her nine assists. Valencia was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Sophia Maytorena had an outrageously good game for Marana as she had 12 digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Maytorena a new career-high.

Tucson High Magnet School's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Marana, they pushed their record up to 23-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Tucson High Magnet School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marana, they will welcome Ironwood Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
