Basketball Game Preview: Rangeview Raiders vs. Northfield Nighthawks

The Rangeview Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Northfield Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rangeview, who comes in off a win.

Rangeview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 73-12 win over Woodland Park. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Panthers are ranked 294th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northfield played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 57-32 to Mullen. The game marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Northfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Bethel went 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Snodgrass, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Northfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Northfield now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rangeview, they moved to 7-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Rangeview came up short against Northfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 52-44. Can Rangeview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
