Softball Recap: Casey-Westfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Casey-Westfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to the Richland County Tigers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ava Goble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gyllyane Gilbert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Casey-Westfield's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 19-2. As for Richland County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

Casey-Westfield has already played their next match, a 10-6 defeat against Mt. Carmel on the 24th. As for Richland County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Robinson on the 24th.
