Soccer Recap: Vela Gets the Win

Vela won the last time they faced Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North and things went their way on Friday too. The Vela Sabercats skirted past the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders 3-2. Given the Sabercats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Raiders are ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Vela and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vela will take on McAllen Memorial at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McAllen Memorial will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Vela surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sharyland at 8:00 p.m. on February 11th.
