Softball Recap: Crestwood Has No Trouble Against St. Martin De Porres

Crestwood had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt St. Martin de Porres on Wednesday. The Red Devils' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 20-0 shutout. The contest marked the Red Devils' most dominant win of the season.

Grace Harper was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and six RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Crestwood got a massive performance out of Hailey Desatnik, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Desatnik a new career-high. Rylee Duval-Chambers also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Crestwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Crestwood has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Martin de Porres, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Crestwood has already played their next match, a 10-5 win against Laurel on the 15th. As for St. Martin de Porres, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against Andrews Osborne Academy on the 20th.
