Baseball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Josh Colaizzi and Austin Daubenmire Lead Bartlett to Victory

Bartlett won against Larkin on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Hawks beat the Royals by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won three in a row.

Joe Kennedy spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bartlett let Austin Daubenmire and Josh Colaizzi run wild. Daubenmire got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Colaizzi went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Colaizzi has become a key player for Bartlett: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12-1 otherwise. Ethan Ratajczyk also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bartlett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Bartlett's record now sits at 10-13-1. As for Larkin, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Bartlett and Larkin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Hawks (ranked 288th) will meet Riverside-Brookfield (ranked 105th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Larkin will square off against Glenbard East at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (543 vs. 152).
