Basketball Recap: Penn Cambria Triumphs

Penn Cambria lost to Central back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Penn Cambria Panthers made off with a 61-60 victory over the Central Dragons. The win almost wasn't to be: the Panthers were down 54-38 in the third quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Penn Cambria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Harrold, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points and five boards. That's the most points Harrold has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Semelsberger, who posted 13 points.

Penn Cambria is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Central, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

When Penn Cambria and Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Penn Cambria will square off against Greater Johnstown and their 15-game winning streak at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Central will try to stop Clearfield's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
