Softball Recap: Leslie County Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Leslie County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jenkins Cavaliers, sneaking past 5-3. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kennedy Maggard spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Leslie County let Emily Caldwell and Peyton Turner run wild. Caldwell went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Turner scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Caldwell a new career-high.

Leslie County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Jenkins, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Leslie County will venture away from home to face off against Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jenkins, they will host Cordia at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give Jenkins their first taste of in-conference action this season.
