Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Glencoe's Winning Streak

If Glencoe was feeling good fresh off their 13-1 takedown of Lebanon last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crimson Tide took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Barlow Bruins on Thursday. The Crimson Tide were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Irene Vandyke made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Tuesday Mevis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The defeat snapped Glencoe's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record. As for Barlow, their record now sits at an identical 6-4.

Coming up, Glencoe will be playing at home against Westview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Crimson Tide's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Barlow, they will head out to face off against Sherwood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
