Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kamryn Sainvil and Azaria Sims Lead Spartanburg to Victory

On Monday, the Spartanburg Vikings beat the James Island Trojans 53-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Spartanburg was led to victory by Azaria Sims and Kamryn Sainvil. Sims went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Sainvil went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Nelson, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madisyn Smith, who had three points along with five rebounds and four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Jailah Greene was another key player, putting up eight points.

Spartanburg now has a winning record of 7-6. As for James Island, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Spartanburg will challenge Dorman at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for James Island, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-10 victory against North Charleston on the 3rd.
